The telephone is not a toy
Kids should never give out, confirm or deny identifying information such as name, home address, school name or telephone number (in person or over the phone)
Teach kids how to dial emergency numbers along with their address to give to emergency officials they call IN EMERGENCIES ONLY
Teach kids to never say ‘my parents are not home’ and talk about whether your kids should answer the phone when alone
Teach children prank calls are wrong
Utilize Caller ID services
Kids should never arrange a meeting with someone over the phone
Parents spend time with your kids talking about the phone. Show your kids the proper way and times to use the phone
Monitor the time kids spend on the phone and to whom they are speaking
Keep parents, family members and emergency numbers beside the phone
