Internet Installation/DSL Setup
Your PGTelco DSL installation will be performed by a qualified and knowledgeable Technician. The PGTelco Technician will install a DSL modem to one phone outlet in your home or business. The Technician will survey the location and wiring before installation, and determine if it will meet your needs.
Additional wiring may be needed for optimal performance of your DSL service. With a
one year service contract, there is no charge for installation of wiring for the DSL
Modem. (some restrictions may apply). The Technician will install a surge protector
and a DSL modem for one device (computer, game console, etc.). Fees may apply for additional work performed by the Technician beyond installation of the DSL
modem to one device.
What will the Technician do when my DSL is installed?
Your DSL Technician will install necessary equipment and ensure it is working properly
on your PC. If no PC is present at installation, the Technician will use a laptop to ensure your connection is performing properly. Your Technician will give you a tutorial on internet and email access as well as any networking needs.
What equipment does PGTelco provide?
PGTelco will provide one surge suppressor and one DSL modem. This equipment is
property of PGTelco and must be returned upon termination of DSL service by either yourself or PGTelco. Fees apply for equipment not returned.
Are there limitations of use with my DSL?
There are no usage limitations. Your connection is always on, available 24/7. However, your service should not be used for any illegal activity or copyright infringement. Also, customers may not use the service in such a way as to impair or degrade the operation or performance of the PGTelco network.
What does “Always on” mean?
Always on means exactly that! Your DSL service is always on, ready to use. Therefore there is no need to dial up, no busy signals, and no disconnections!
What if I need more than one device hooked up to my DSL connection?
Your DSL service can be used in tandem with additional equipment to utilize your
broadband with multiple devices such as other computers, game consoles, VOIP
systems, Satellite receivers, etc. This is called a Network and requires the use of a
router, switch, hub, or a combination of these to support your network. There are
many options available to bring DSL to your additional equipment. Your
Technician can assist you to survey and determine your needs. PGTelco can
install your network for you at additional cost. Call our business office for details.
Are there any system requirements?
PGTelco’s DSL will perform on any operating system, provided your computer
has a functioning Ethernet card or port. In the event your computer does not have
a Ethernet card, your Technician can install a card for an additional cost, and at the discretion of the Technician.
What about Security?
Our service is highly secure. However, always on connections are inherently vulnerable to attack. Additionally, PGTelco cannot monitor information you download. Therefore we recommend all users use a firewall in tandem with updated antivirus software.

Internet Trouble Shooting Common Browsing Errors
404 Not Found
This error occurs when the requested Web page is not found on the host's server. This is one of the most common browsing errors, as it can easily be produced by entering a Web address incorrectly or by following an outdated bookmark. The best course of action is to try visiting the Web site without entering extended address information. If the content was simply moved to a different location on the site, you may be able to find the new location from the site's home page.
For example, if you entered the Web site address "http://www.example.com/browsers/test123.htm" and you received a 404 error, you could try entering "http://www.example.com/" instead to see if you can find the information you are looking for from the site's home page.
401 Unauthorized
You will see this error in cases where the web server is expecting some sort of authentication information, such as Username and Password. If the server does not receive this authentication, it may produce a 401 error. You can click the Refresh button to see if the browser will refresh the page and prompt you for a username and password. If not, you may need to contact the site's administrator to find a solution.
403 Forbidden
This error occurs when you do not have permission to view the content. This message usually means that the server's administrator has protected the content so that it cannot be viewed by the public. If you feel you are mistakenly receiving the message, you may need to contact the site's administrator to discuss your permissions.
500 Internal Error
This error usually means there is a technical problem with the server itself. The best course of action is to notify the site's administrator.
Network Connection Was Refused By Server
This is a fairly uncommon error that can occur if the server is currently overworked and is unable to handle any more visitors. Try refreshing the page a few times to see if you can connect with the server. If you are still unable to connect, try again later. If the problem persists, you may also want to contact the site's administrator.
Unable To Locate Host
Usually this error means that there is some type of connection problem between your computer and the server that is hosting the site. This can be caused by several conditions, such as an invalid domain name or a network failure. To find out more about this problem, try visiting a few other Web sites. If you encounter the same error message, there may be a problem with your Dial-Up or broadband connection. If you are able to connect to other sites, then there is likely some type of connection problem with the site from which you're receiving the error. If possible, contact the site's administrator.
Back to TopViruses & Spyware
Viruses and Spyware are two of the largest problems facing Internet users today. Viruses and Spyware can cause performance problems on your computer, and can also contribute to the loss of important files and personal information.
To combat computer viruses, we recommend that you use a virus filtering program--such as Norton Antivirus, McAfee or AVG. We also recommend that you regularly update the software (on a weekly basis, if possible), in order to keep up with the latest viruses. To help prevent the effects of spyware, you can install and run a number of free utilities that are found on the Internet.
